The Middle Atlantic Golfers’ Association (MAPGA) has announced their 2019 Hall of Fame Class inductees, Mike Ahrnsbrak, PGA, and Wayne DeFrancesco, PGA.
Ahrnsbrak, 62, has been a PGA Member for 37 years. He was elected Secretary of the MAPGA in 1991, ultimately rising to President in November 1995. He also served at the National level, elected to the District-10 Director position in 2010. He is well known for being the Head PGA Professional at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club for 15 years (1985-1999). After a short stint with an internet company (NetGolfShop.com) and consulting, Mike came back to green grass at Musket Ridge GC (four years), Blue Ridge Shadows Resort (nine years), and Lexington Golf & Country Club for two years. Mike and his wife Ann just recently moved to Wilmington, NC where Mike is the General Manager at Pine Valley Country Club.
DeFrancesco, 60, earned his membership in 1993. He is quite an accomplished player. Wayne won three Section Championships (2000, 2001, 2007), three Maryland Opens (1994, 1995, 2005) and three MAPGA Match Play titles (1996, 2004, 2006). However, perhaps his biggest win was the 2001 National Club Professional Championship at Sunriver Resort, which he won wire-to-wire. Wayne was a Four-time MAPGA Player of the Year, as well as the 1994 MAPGA Teacher of the Year and 1998 MAPGA Horton Smith Trophy. Wayne spent 13 years as an instructor at Woodholme Country Club, then eight years at Woodmont Country Club and has been at Lakewood Country Club since 2014.
