March 29, 2018
Denver, CO – PJ Maybank, a 12-year old from Cheboygan, Michigan and a member of the Jack Nicklaus Academy Junior Elite Team, is set to return to the 2018 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship. PJ placed 6th as a 10-year old in his first appearance at Augusta National Golf Club. This year PJ will be accompanied by Brian O’Neill, Director of Instruction at the Nicklaus Academy Orlando, who has coached PJ since he was 5-years old.
“PJ has put in the time and work necessary to get back to Augusta,” says O’Neill. “From hitting balls in his garage during the winter months in Michigan to spending as much time as possible at the Academy in Orlando, he demonstrates an amazing ability to focus while still keeping the game fun. And he maintains a 4.0 GPA during all of this.”
“We have the pleasure of knowing PJ and his family for the past 5+ years,” stated Ted Simons, Executive VP/COO for Nicklaus Academies. “PJ has come to the Memorial Tournament each year and has been part of the corporate golf schools we conduct for the tournament sponsors. To watch him grow and mature over the years has been a reward for all of the instructors involved with Nicklaus Academies. We wish him well in Augusta where Mr. Nicklaus won the Masters a record 6-times.”
