The 2018 Asian Golf Awards is set to launch in two weeks time. This will be the nine-teenth annual round of the Asia-wide search for the best of the best in the golf industry in Asia. Every year since its inception, the Asian Golf Awards has been the most sought after and most respected award programme in the Asian golf industry and in 2018, it is ex-pected to set a number of new milestones as the programme heads towards the end of its second decade. The on-line poll will go “live” on April 1 and will conclude on June 30, 2018. Get ready to vote for your favourites!
The month of April will also be a landmark year for Asian golf as three top Asian stars vie for top honours at the 2018 Masters at Augusta National. Never before has Asia been represented by a trio of world beaters at the Masters – the 2018 star line-up includes Thai-land’s top super-star Kiradech Aphibarnrat, China’s Li Haotong and the current Europe-an Tour Race To Dubai leader, India’s Shubhankar Sharma. Together, these three play-ers possess the skill and the firepower to pull off some surprises at Augusta National.
On the golf development front, the spotlight falls on the refurbished Laguna National Golf Club in Singapore. After a multi-million dollar redevelopment programme, the twenty-five year old club has thrown open its doors again and what it had on show was a real crowd pleaser. It’s “Classic” course has been transformed for the better and the club has also in-troduced a world’s first called “Moonlight Golf”. This is an innovation that hopefully will go a long way to prove to be an exciting format to help grow the game of golf.
