PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (April 24, 2018) – The PGA of America announced today that 101 PGA Professionals were either promoted, hired or declared as a General Manager (GM) at public, private and resort facilities nationwide during the first quarter of 2018.
The spike in PGA Professionals earning GM positions aligns with the PGA’s recent repositioning of PGA Career Services, as more resources are now available to better serve employers, PGA Members and individuals seeking to gain employment within the golf industry.
“We’re thrilled by the number of PGA Professionals who have already secured General Manager positions in just the first three months of the year,” said PGA Chief Membership Officer John Easterbrook Jr., PGA. “As part of our enhanced Career Services Department, we’re working closely with employers at facilities nationwide and connecting them with candidates who best fit the skill, experience and leadership qualifications required of a General Manager.”
The Association is committed to ensuring that PGA Members and golf industry professionals are prepared and equipped to advance their career path to the highest level. The mission of PGA Career Services is to assist golf industry professionals over the entire span of their career. To further enhance these services, the department recently expanded from 10 to 18 Career Consultants nationwide and debuted an expanded job board on PGA.org. Intended for positions at golf facilities and within the industry at various levels, the new job board offers increased ease of use for both employers and applicants.
Throughout their career, ongoing training, education advancement and professional development are required for PGA Members to continually meet the needs of the golf industry. Whether it’s through our partnerships with universities or cutting-edge business simulations, the PGA provides lifelong learning opportunities to our Members. This ensures that we not only maintain operational excellence at our facilities but that our Professionals are regarded as the highest qualified and most respected leaders in the industry.
