ORLANDO, Fla. (June 4, 2018) – Accomplished LPGA teaching professionals and players
Jill Finlan Scally and Maria Palozola are scheduled to appear as guest instructors on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive on Tuesday, June 5.
The two will be providing instructional tips as part of Women’s Golf Day. The popular daily morning show airs from 7-9 a.m. ET.
Scally and Palozola are two of the inaugural coaches in Golf Channel Academy (GCA), a dedicated network of teaching facilities. Select GCA coaches are being invited to appear on the network’s news and instruction shows, including PGA Tour Champions Learning Center and School of Golf; Scally and Palozola are making their first appearance.
Scally is an instructor with the Scally Golf Academy in Moon Township, Pa.-a 25-minute drive northwest of Pittsburgh. She played her collegiate golf at Penn State University and was a member of the Futures Tour, the LPGA’s developmental tour, from 2001-06. She posted the low score in qualifying for both the U.S. Women’s Amateur and U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, and was a two-time U.S. Golf Teacher’s Cup and World Golf Teacher’s Cup champion.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be on Morning Drive, especially on a day when we celebrate girls and women playing golf ,” said Scally, who runs the Scally Golf Academy along with her husband and fellow Golf Channel Academy lead coach, Chuck Scally Jr. “One of the initiatives of Women’s Golf Day is to help women learn the basic fundamentals and skills they will need to enjoy this great game, and I look forward to sharing some of my favorite tips and lessons with them and all of the viewers at home.”
A United States Golf Teacher’s Federation (USGTF) Level III certified Golf Teaching Professional, Scally was trained by Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher T.J. Tomasi and also earned two levels of certification training under Top 100 Teacher Charlie King. Other certifications include Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), U.S. Kid’s Golf, Pilates for Golf and EyeLine Golf 4 Putting Elements. Scally also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Penn State and a Masters in Occupational Therapy from Chatham University in Pittsburgh.
Palozola is the Owner and Director of Instruction at Golf Channel Academy with Maria Palozola, based at Big Bend Golf Center in the St. Louis suburb of Valley Park. “It’s a thrill and a privilege to be appearing on Morning Drive, especially on a day when we celebrate women’s golf,” said Palozola, who was recently named to the inaugural list of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional’s Top 50 LPGA Teachers (presented in partnership with Women’s Golf Journal). “I’m a big supporter of the LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club and run the St. Louis West County Chapter, so I embrace any opportunity to help young girls and women of all ages play better golf, so that they’ll have more fun playing this game and will stick with it for a lifetime.”
Palozola is also ranked by her peers as one of Golf Digest magazine’s “Best Teachers” in the state of Missouri. An accomplished amateur player, she won two St. Louis District Championships and a Missouri State High School Championship, as well as the 1993 Missouri State Amateur.
