Durable velcro glove caddie makes unique and affordable pro-am gift
FISHERS, Ind. – Sometimes you look at a product, see the simplicity of the design, and the problem that it solves, and say, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
GloveRide is one of those products. Invented by Rhett Campbell, whose inspiration for GloveRide resulted after becoming a self-described “golf crazy” parent of an accomplished junior golfer. Campbell’s oldest son, Chase, played varsity golf for four years at Hamilton Southeastern in Indianapolis, as well as junior tour events across the Midwest.
GloveRide is a long sturdy Velcro strap that attaches to your golf bag and provides a convenient place to hang one or more of your golf gloves. The eight-inch, heavy-duty flexible strap is embedded with a one-inch wide industrial strength Velcro fastening strip. Hanging your golf glove on GloveRide is easy during or in between rounds, allowing it to air out and dry and not become misshapen.
Campbell had worked for a company that manufactured Velcro strapping for the voice and data industry. “I took a couple strap accessories and added a fastener so it could hang off my golf bag, ” said Campbell. “This allowed my gloves to hang freely and hang-dry in a natural position. I noticed over the summer that I didn’t need to buy as many gloves as I learned to rotate two or three gloves.”
As his son Chase began to get serious with golf, Campbell’s self-made strapping accessory started disappearing from his bag. The culprit, son Chase, who in turn was giving them to his buddies at junior tournaments. Campbell knew he had something and with the additional idea of including a customizable poker chip as a ball marker, GloveRide was born.
GloveRide officially launched at the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando Jan. 23-26. Shortly thereafter, GloveRide got a call from tournament director, Jack Sammons, of the FedEx St. Jude Classic, who had visited GloveRide’s booth.
“It was so exciting to get our first order from such a prestigious PGA Tour event,” said Campbell. “The FedEx St. Jude Classic has been held annually since 1958 and has such a great history and relationship with St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Having GloveRide be given as a pro-am gift is exactly what our product is meant for.”
GloveRide includes a poker chip ball marker that locks firmly into the top above the Velcro strip and is easily removed and replaced. The poker chip is customizable on both sides as well as the back of the strap.
