Washington, D.C. — The American Golf Industry Coalition (AGIC) will bring together leaders from across the sport May 4–6 in Washington, D.C., for the 18th annual National Golf Day, a celebration recognizing golf’s positive impact on people, communities and the economy.
Golf has reached unprecedented heights in recent years. Participation continues to surge, with 48.1 million Americans engaging with the sport in 2025—a 55% increase over the past decade, including significant growth among women (+46%), people of color (+61%), and junior players (+58%). The sport generates $102 billion in direct economic output, or $226 billion when indirect activity is included, supports 2.1 million jobs and sustains more than 15,000 small businesses nationwide. Representing nearly 50 allied organizations—from course owners and manufacturers to associations, turf professionals, and community programs—AGIC is advancing a unified agenda built around four key areas of focus: Being Responsible Stewards, Delivering Health and Wellness, Driving Economic and Charitable Impact, and Expanding Access to the Game.
On Tuesday, May 5, industry volunteers will participate in Community Service Projects at the National Mall and Old Soldiers’ Home Golf Course, continuing AGIC’s tradition of environmental restoration and public-space enhancements across Washington, D.C.
On Wednesday, May 6, AGIC representatives will conduct legislative visits on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and their staff, including members of the Congressional Golf Caucus co-chaired by Representatives Richard Hudson (R-NC), Scott Peters (D-CA), Nancy Mace (R-SC), and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA).
“Golf continues to lead by example—economically, socially and environmentally,” said Greg McLaughlin, CEO of AGIC, a division of the World Golf Foundation. “The game’s impact reaches far beyond the course. It supports jobs and local businesses, strengthens physical and mental wellness, and preserves thousands of acres of green space that benefit communities across the country.
Our industry’s strength lies in a shared commitment to sustainability, inclusion, and opportunity—values that unify every corner of the game. National Golf Day offers a powerful platform to share that story with lawmakers, celebrate our progress, and continue charting a path that ensures golf remains accessible and thriving for generations to come.”
