The publishers of Alabama Golf News announced they will be attending the 2022 PGA Merchandise Show next week in Orlando.
Editor Gregg Dewalt and Online Editor Dan Vukelich have attended the event for years, but as journalists writing for other publications. This will be their first as publishers of alabamagolfnews.com.
Alabama Golf News is the definitive online source of news of interest to Alabama golfers and golfers planning to visit the Yellowhammer State. “We expect to grow our audience significantly this golf season,” Vukelich said.
Dewalt, who writes and edits stories from his base in Florence, Alabama, plans to meet with equipment reps at the show. Vukelich, who performs online editing duties from his base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, plans to meet with apparel reps.
Show exhibitors are invited to contact the two journalists and send news tips by email to bamagolfnews@gmail.com.
The two launched Alabama Golf News in March 2020 and had planned to attend the 2021 show, which was turned into a virtual event because of Covid-19.
Dewalt spent 25 years as a sports journalist and recently retired as senior sports editor of two Alabama daily newspapers, the TimesDaily of Florence, and the Decatur Daily. He is the winner of numerous APSE sports-writing awards. Vukelich, a former investigative reporter and an IRE winner, also edits New Mexico Golf News.
Additionally, both men write freelance pieces about golf and golf travel for other platforms.
Dewalt has continues to write for his old newspaper. He has also written for New York City’s The Met Golfer and Golf Oklahoma magazine. Vukelich has written for SI.com, Morning Read, First Call Golf, The Met Golfer and a variety of regional golf publications.
“If you see us on the floor of the show, buttonhole us and tell us about your golf products or news ideas,” Dewalt said.
