Alabamagolfnews.com, the go-to source for Alabama golfers and golf tourists, invites all PGA professionals and directors of golf in the Alabama-NW Florida Section PGA to submit holes-in-one and other extraordinary golf accomplishments by golfers at their clubs.
“We’ve devoted a section of our home page to prominently display holes-in-one, but would like our list to be comprehensive so that all golfers who score aces and want to be recognized can be listed,” said Editor Gregg Dewalt, who lives in Florence, Alabama.
Alabama Golf News plans to publish the name and home town of the golfer, the hole where the ace occurred, the date of the accomplishment, the yardage and club used, and whether the ace was the golfer’s first, second or third, etc., hole-in-one, plus any other pertinent details, Dewalt said.
“Other extraordinary feats, like scoring a double eagle or shooting one’s age, are also welcome,” he said.
“We had tremendous interest in an article about how long-time Alabama PGA professional Charlie Krenkel scored an ace and an albatross, or double eagle in the same round at Ol’Colony last September,” Dewalt said. Read that story here.
PGA professionals or their designees should submit the information by email to bamagolfnews@gmail.com using an email address associated with their club – for example, bob@ABCgolfclub.com, Dewalt said.
“I’m a journalist who loves to tell good stories about golf, so they should feel free to email me story tips and other news about their club, new hires, course improvements, charitable projects and the like,” the longtime Alabama sports editor said.
Alabamagolfnews.com was launched in March 2020 to fill a gap in news coverage of golf left by staffing cuts at local news outlets.
