Myakka City, Florida– Soleta Golf Club, the new luxury golf and lifestyle community slated for the Sarasota/Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch markets, announced the hiring of golf industry veteran Alan Pope as the club’s Membership Director.
“We are fortunate to have Alan on our team to spearhead our membership marketing efforts as we get this new project off the ground,” said Charles Duff, managing partner and developer of Soleta Golf Club. “With Alan’s vast knowledge of private club marketing and his extensive relationships in the golf world, we know we have the right person in place to reach our goals.”
Pope enjoys an impressive business development, sales and golf pedigree. He joined Bradenton’s Concession Golf Club in 2012 and was charged with developing and implementing short and long term strategies to meet the club’s membership and financial goals. While at The Concession, Pope co-founded The Concession Cup, a biennial golf competition between top amateurs from the U.S. and Great Britain. He then was hired by The Coral Creek Club in Boca Grande to enhance the club’s national and statewide presence and reputation.
Pope also served as the Director of Sales at the Disney Vacation Club and spent 10 years as the Vice President of the Special Events Department and Merchandise for Orlando based Wyndham Vacation Ownership. He also structured a business plan for Wyndham to become the major sponsor of a PGA TOUR tournament that created significant brand awareness for both the hotel and timeshare group.
Pope’s resume includes impressive competitive golf credentials. From 1990 to 1996, he was a member of the Ben Hogan and Nike tours. He successfully qualified for three U.S. Amateur Championships and was a four-year letterman on the University of Alabama golf team from 1983 through 1987. As a member at Orlando’s Bay Hill Club and Lodge, he won four club championship titles.
Pope is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. degree in Business/Communication.
