NORMAL, Ill. – Recent Illinois State graduate and future women’s golf graduate assistant coach Ali Schrock is set to compete in the June ANNIKA WAPT Redbird Championship hosted at Weibring Golf Club from June 18-20.
Schrock will compete in the event – an official event of the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour – and the top two players in the open field will receive an exemption into the Wildhorse Ladies Golf Classic from August 9-11 on the LPGA Epson Tour. The Redbird Championship will be the seventh event on the Callaway Race to Sage 2, a season-long points race beginning at the first regular season event and concluding at the ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour Championship. The top five finishers of the points race will earn exemptions into state two of LPGA Qualifying, and an Epson Tour card.
Schrock left Illinois State after a stellar career in which she averaged 76.1 strokes per round, third-best over a career in program history. She played in 133 total rounds as a Redbird, totaling 10,122 strokes – both most in program history, while her 27 career rounds at or under par are more than any other player in program history.
The ANNIKA Women’s All Pro Tour (WAPT) was established in 2019 to provide a premier developmental opportunity for female golf professionals to hone their competitive skills while preparing for a life on the Epson and LPGA Tours. Through its partnership with the LPGA’s Epson Tour, the ANNIKA WAPT provides weekly opportunities for players to earn exemptions to select Epson Tour events. At the end of each season, the top five points winners on the Callaway Race to Stage 2 earn advancement directly to Stage 2 of LPGA qualifying.
The Pontiac, Illinois, native, was a three-time All-Conference honoree, and was named the 2022 MVC Golfer of the Year. She earned six MVC Golfer of the Week honors and was twice named the MVC Women’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named an Academic All-America in 2022 and 2023.
Golf Hall of Famer Annika Sörenstam created the ANNIKA Foundation (www.annikafoundation.org) to develop and empower the next generation of women worldwide through golf. More specifically, it provides opportunities in women’s golf at the junior, collegiate, and professional levels while teaching young people the importance of personal development, including living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition.
Schrock’s 211 tournament score at the Rio Verde Collegiate is tied for the third-lowest total in program history, as she has three of the nine lowest tournament scores in the Redbird record book. Her 73.9 stroke scoring average in her final season is the second-lowest in school history, and her two medalist honors during the 2023-24 season are tied for the fourth-most by a Redbird golfer.
Also competing in the collegiate division is rising Redbird junior Dani Grace Schrock. Dani Grace Schrock played in seven tournaments during the year, averaging 77.6 strokes per round for ISU with two at or under par rounds, and a top-10 finish at the Coyote Creek Classic in early October.
