Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic to honor Lesley Visser with Sports Legend Award
The 21st Annual Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic, taking place on Thursday, June 20, at Westhampton Country Club in Westhampton, NY, is proud to announce that the Sports Legend Honoree this year will be sports broadcaster, Lesley Visser.
Visser has been a trailblazer in the field of sports broadcasting and among her many accolades, she is the first woman enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame; voted to both the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame and Sports Writers Hall of Fame; the first woman assigned as a Super Bowl sideline reporter; first and only woman assigned to a Super Bowl Trophy Presentation and the first woman NFL Analyst on both radio (Westwood One Monday Night Football, 2002, and television (Miami Dolphins, 2009).
The Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic takes place every year at a prestigious golf course in The Hamptons. The popular tournament raises money and awareness for cancer research and prevention and each year the tournament supports a variety of not-for-profits including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, KIDS NEED MORE, a camp on Shelter Island for young people with cancer, and the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation.
5-time Stanley Cup winner Grant Fuhr was honored as the Sports Legend in 2018.

I’m proud to call Lesley a dear friend for thirty years plus! She’s been an inspiration to so many in our field and it will be great to have her participate in our event this year.”

Liguori, the first female to host a sports call-in show on WFAN-NY with her weekly, ‘Hey Liguori, What’s the Story,’ show that aired for over 25 years, is also an original host on The Golf Channel, in addition to being the Host, Executive Producer, Owner of the long-running Sports Innerview cable and radio series.
The charity tournament also supports several mentorship programs for women in sports including the Association for Women in Sports Media (AWSM) Champions Mentorship Program and the New York Women in Communications (NY-WICI) Ann Liguori Foundation Sports Media Scholarship.
