ANNIKA Foundation Bringing Next ‘Share My Passion’ Clinic to Houston
Girls Invited to Submit Letters to Annika Telling Her Why They Love Golf for Chance to Attend Clinic at the PGA TOUR Champions’ Insperity Invitational
The ANNIKA Foundation – golf Hall-of-Famer Annika Sorenstam’s charitable organization – will hold the next edition of its “Share My Passion” girls golf clinic series on Sunday, May 5 at The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands, Texas.
Girls between the ages of six and 12 who reside in the Southern Texas PGA section are invited to write a letter to Annika telling her why they love golf, and why other girls should learn how to play. Annika and her committee will then select the 40 most-compelling notes and invite their authors to a clinic that will take place during the final round of the PGA TOUR Champions’ Insperity Invitational.
From noon to 3:45 p.m., participants will rotate through four stations staffed by Annika and golf instructors before gathering together for an Annika-led skills clinic. They will then top off the day by getting to watch the tournament’s final groups finish up on No. 18.
“I always look forward to reading the wonderful letters from girls who love golf,” says Annika, a 10-time major champion and winner of 72 LPGA events during her illustrious playing career. “We’re incredibly grateful to the sponsors of our ‘Share My Passion’ series, Dick’s Sporting Goods and The Toro Company, as well as the Insperity Invitational, Southern Texas PGA and Susie Redman, who does a wonderful job running the girls golf program at The Woodlands, for making it possible to bring this event to Houston.”
Entrants are asked to limit letters to 300 words in length and submit them by Friday, April 19. An entry form and further information can be found here.
The ANNIKA Foundation is devoted to growing the game of golf around the world. It annually hosts six girls-only invitational tournaments on five continents: the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex, the ANNIKA Invitational Europe (Sweden), ANNIKA Invitational Mission Hills (China), the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America (Argentina) and the ANNIKA Invitational Australasia (New Zealand). The Foundation also runs the ANNIKA Cup, ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M and bestows the prestigious ANNIKA Award presented by 3M to NCAA Division I’s best female golfer.
Since the inaugural Foundation tournament – the 2009 ANNIKA Invitational USA – 45 ANNIKA event alumnae have earned LPGA cards. Twenty-four alumnae competed in the 2018 ANA Inspiration.

About the ANNIKA Foundation
Annika created the ANNIKA Foundation to provide opportunities in women’s golf at the junior, collegiate and professional levels while teaching young people the importance of living a healthy, active lifestyle through fitness and nutrition. The Foundation has partnered with key organizations to promote healthy, active lifestyles for children, including SPARK, Florida Hospital for Children in support of its Healthy 100 Kids initiative and The First Tee in development of the Nine Healthy Habits curriculum for children.
It annually conducts six major golf events for aspiring junior girls: the ANNIKA Invitational USA presented by Rolex at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida; ANNIKA Invitational at Mission Hills in China; ANNIKA Invitational Europe and ANNIKA Cup in Sweden; and, in association with the R&A, the ANNIKA Invitational Latin America and ANNIKA Invitational Australasia. In 2013, the Foundation’s reach extended to the collegiate ranks with the ANNIKA Award presented by 3M (awarded to most outstanding female NCAA Division I golfer) and ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M (12 team, 54-hole event in Minnesota). SPARK grants to schools, financial support of Healthy 100 Kids, endowing an AJGA ACE Grant, and the “Share My Passion” Golf Clinics are other areas of emphasis.
