APGS 2019 – A 5G Mindset – Awakening To A Nightmare!
We are fast approaching a point when we are going to awaken from a glorious dream of the good times of the post-war era and be confronted face-on by the impending nightmare of the hard charging age of the Millennials! Most of us have read about the Millennial period; many of us have discussed it at length and then again, many more have just not given a hoot to the changing of the guard – from the Post War Generation of baby boomers to the emerging new market of Millennials.
This lackadaisical attitude is perhaps most prevalent in the golf industry which is already paying the price of a global decline in its business. This nightmare was portended by the American market research guru Matt Powell of NPD Groupwhen he warned: “There are a lot of systemic headwinds for golf that are just not going away – in particular: “Millennials are not picking up the game as quickly as Boomers are ageing out of it. The game needs young people to be playing it to reverse its fortunes. I don’t think a 43-year-old guy (Tiger Woods) winning a golf tournament is going to inspire young people to get out and pick up the game.”
This challenge will be addressed at the 2019 Asia Pacific Golf Summit(APGS 2019) and the man charged to handle this burning issue is the Legendary Marketing Guru – Andrew Wood. This challenge has been on the agenda for a few years and Woodhas stepped up to the plate and has offered a myriad of solutions, in his inimitable way of not pulling any punches.
Just the sheer size of the Millennial market in Asia is astounding and the golf industry must wake up to this significant megatrend and prepare to change NOW so that it will be ready to chase after the opportunities available in the new Millennial marketplace.
Collectively speaking Asian Millennials will have billions at their disposal and they make up a CRITICALpool of prospects for the future of every golf club. “But NO ONEin the golf business has the slightest clue how to reach them,” observed Wood.
There is absolutely no denying that Millennials are totally different to Baby Boomers and this requires a whole new way of reaching out to this market segment. The old, tried and tested way that golf clubs once relied upon is passé. It’s over. It’s done with!
There is potential waiting to be tapped but as the Legendary Marketing Guru says, “You can’t do it with the old template – you need to start from scratch and cater to the Millennials with a customised package just for them!”
Come and listen to Wood as he unravels a load of game-changing thoughts and ideas that you can only experience at APGS 2019.
The Summit will be staged on November 4 – 6in the futuristic Indian city of Gurugram and the venue will be the multi-award winning DLF Golf and Country Club.
