APGS 2022 – IT’S TIME TO BECOME MARKETING SAVVY!

July 27, 2022

The Continent of Asia has a whole bunch of golf courses that were mostly built in the last thirty years or so. Amongst these are world class designer courses, a lot of good stand-out courses and some goat yards. As a whole, the Continent is home to well over 5000 golf courses and growing.

While the population is relatively large, there has been one very important and essential service lacking. That has been the critical need for some super savvy marketing expertise. It would be fair to say that most clubs have operated on the basic belief that if you build the course, golfers will come. Sadly, in this day and age of ruthless marketing and the battle for share of mind amongst consumers, that is no longer the case.

Golf clubs need to come up with creative and imaginative marketing platforms to fight for share of market amongst golfers. Reasonable budgets and suitably qualified manpower are also required to launch marketing programmes. The litany of challenges faced by the industry in the area of marketing needs to be addressed and this will be one of the key focal points of the 2022 Asia Pacific Golf Summit.

APGS 2022, the 14th in the annual series, will be staged at the multi-billion Hoiana Integrated Golf Resort and Casino in the UN Heritage City of Hoi Ann, Vietnam from November 1 – 3.

To speak on this topic, APGS has tapped on Troon Golf, the world’s largest professional club management company which has for more than 30 years provided management services to 680+ locations and 665+ golf courses globally.

The man who will be charged to speak about marketing is Clinton Norris, a member of the British PGA and graduate of the highly regarded Applied Golf Management Studies from The University of Birmingham, England.

Clinton, who is Troon International’s Director, Sales and Marketing, will serve as a valuable beacon to help Asian golf clubs to see how best they can devise and embark on marketing programmes of their own as they take on the challenges of the 21st Century. Clinton is without doubt one of the best experts in his field and he should not be missed at all costs!
