This is a pop quiz to test your knowledge on the golf course architect who has more courses to his name than any other major golf course architect in Asia. Can you name him? Here’s a clue – he has designed 50 golf courses in China alone.
Give up? The man with the honour of being the most prolific golf course architect in Asia is the award-winning American wizard Brian Curley. He is the architect who designed the 22 golf courses which make up the giant Mission Hills Complex in Shenzhen and Haikou in China.
Today, Curley has courses in virtually every country in Asia and is arguably the most knowledgeable man on trends impacting golf course designs on the Continent.
Curley will be speaking at the 2022 Asia Pacific Golf Summit that will be staged at the multi-billion-dollar Hoiana Resort & Golf in the UN Heritage City of Hoi An on November 1 – 3.
He has been invited to speak on new course development in Asia in a post pandemic era.
As Asia continues to see more new course development, it is important to ensure that projects take into consideration the various challenges, including those that relate to the demands of the environment and matters relating to sustainability,” Curley explained.
“More so than ever before, we need to be more cognisant and aware of the need to build courses that conform to evolving changes and we must endeavour to get it right the first time around – whatever is built must be built to last and stay relevant,” Curley pointed out.
For golf course owners and operators with plans to build new courses or renovate old ones, this is a must attend session.
