Deng is the Top-Ranked Junior Golfer in the AJGA Junior Girls Rankings and the 2025 AJGA Player of the Year
Talley, No. 2 in the AJGA Junior Girls Rankings, Made History Saturday by Becoming the First Repeat Winner in the Girls Division at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley
LOS ANGELES, CA – The top two-ranked players in the Rolex AJGA Girls Rankings – Aphrodite Deng (1) and Asterisk Talley (2) – have accepted sponsor invitations to tee it up against the world’s best professional golfers on the LPGA Tour at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro, taking place April 13-19 at El Caballero Country Club in Los Angeles.
Deng, 16, the top-ranked junior golfer in the AJGA girls rankings and No. 12 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings, is the 2025 AJGA Girls Player of the Year and the 2025 U.S. Girls Junior champion. She is a three-time Junior All-American (2023-25) and was the low amateur at the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open (T-20) in her LPGA Tour tournament debut. The Canadian native and Short Hills, N.J. resident finished T4 at last week’s Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. She will also compete for the first time in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur in April.
“I am very excited to play against the best in the world on the LPGA Tour at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro,” said Deng, winner of three AJGA events in 2025. “I can’t wait to test my skills against the best in the game and play alongside so many players I have grown up watching.”
Talley, 17, will make her second consecutive appearance at the JM Eagle LA Championship as a sponsor invitation. The 2nd ranked junior golfer in the AJGA girls rankings and No. 11 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Rankings, Talley captured the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley title by three shots at 8-under par on Saturday, becoming the first repeat winner in the girls division of the championship. The Chowchilla resident and honorary member at El Caballero Country Club is a part of the 2026 United States Junior National Team, a four-time Junior All-American (2022-25) and the 2025 runner-up at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
“I’m thrilled to be able to tee it up once again at the JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro at El Cab in front of family and friends,” said Talley. “Playing in my home state of California last year at this event was so special and I learned so much. I’m looking forward to giving it my all in April.”
Deng and Talley will join an elite international field of 144 players that includes defending champion Ingrid Lindblad, two-time champion and World No. 7 Hannah Green, major champions and several players with Los Angeles connections, including Allisen Corpuz (Los Angeles, USC), Andrea Lee (Hermosa Beach), Alison Lee (Los Angeles, UCLA), Gabriela Ruffels (Los Angeles, USC), Ryann O’Toole (San Clemente, UCLA), Lilia Vu (Fountain Valley, UCLA) and Rose Zhang (Irvine). They will be competing for a share of the $3.75 million purse, one of the largest prize funds on the LPGA Tour schedule outside of major championships.
“Supporting and inspiring the next generation of players is central to our mission of growing women’s golf, and both Aphrodite and Asterisk represent the bright future of the sport,” said Walter and Shirley Wang, CEOs of JM Eagle and Plastpro. “We are proud to provide a platform for emerging stars and look forward to seeing them compete in our world-class field this April.”
“Aphrodite and Asterisk have been playing phenomenal junior and amateur golf, and we are excited to welcome them to El Caballero Country Club and the 2026 JM Eagle LA Championship presented by Plastpro,” said Megan Herrera, JM Eagle LA Championship tournament director. “These sponsor invitations reinforce the commitments from the tournament and Walter and Shirley Wang in shining a spotlight on the future stars of the LPGA Tour.”
Tournament officials will be announcing additional field commitments, tournament enhancements and the final sponsor exemption leading up to the championship in the coming weeks. For a complete list of tournament entries, click HERE.
