APGS 2019 – A 5G Mindset – Time To Keep It Green!
There are over 5000 golf courses in Asia and when viewed collectively, golf courses suddenly become a key part of the Continent’s environment landscape. Put simply, the sheer number of courses does create huge concerns regarding their impact on the environment.
While the issue of sustainability in the golf industry has been discussed for more than a decade, the time has now come for course owners and operators in Asia to sit up and take notice of the challenge. One club that has taken the initiative to place the environment on top of its agenda is the multi-award winning Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore.
It has an ambitious programme called ‘Keep it Green’ which according to Andy Johnston, General Manager and Director of Agronomy is designed to “ensure that every aspect of our agronomy programmes and operations strive to work in harmony with the environment.”
“The future of the golf industry requires clubs, owners and managers to understand more about what can be done to neutralise and enhance the environment,” said Johnston. “I hope that Sentosa serves as an inspiration in this respect as we continue to find new ways to benefit the environment,” he added.
What Sentosa Golf Club has to offer is a very comprehensive programme that aims to help the club deliver on its commitment to play its part as a good and responsible citizen of the environment.
Johnston will deliver a special presentation on the club’s “Keep It Green” programme and he will be amongst one of some twenty world-class speakers who have been booked to speak at APGS 2019.
The Summit will be staged on November 4 – 6 in the futuristic Indian city of Gurugram and the venue will be the multi-award winning DLF Golf and Country Club.
