Aqaba – Jordan  – The city of Aqaba in southern Jordan is gearing up to host the 34th edition of the Jordan Open Golf Championship, which will take place at Ayla Golf Club from September 2–4. The event will feature a strong lineup of top Arab and international golfers under the direct supervision of the Arab Golf Federation.

This year, the championship holds special significance as one of the official stops on the Arab Golf Series (AGS), sanctioned by the Arab Golf Federation. The series awards Arab players official ranking points within the new Arab ranking system, opening broader pathways for them to qualify for professional competitions at the international level.

The Arab Golf Federation, which continues to play a pivotal role in developing the sport across the Arab world, stressed that its support for this championship reflects its commitment to expanding golf’s reach in the region. The Federation aims to boost the participation of Arab national teams in regional and global tournaments by providing a highly competitive environment and strong opportunities for interaction between professional and amateur players from different countries.

The championship serves as a successful example of integration between the Arab Golf Federation and national federations, working together to raise the readiness of Arab players, organize high-quality tournaments, nurture emerging talents, and strengthen the presence of Arab countries on the international stage.

This year’s Arab Golf Series kicked off with a strong start at the Qatar Open in February, followed by the Cedars Golf Championship organized by the Lebanese Golf Federation in collaboration with the UAE Federation. The series then moved to Cairo for the Pan Arab Junior and Ladies Golf Championship. Showcasing the first AGS Event and Arab Golf Rankings for Ladies and Junior categories. Arab The calendar continues with the Jordan Open, followed by the Morocco Elite Tour in Tangier. In October, the Bahrain Amateur Open will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, followed by the Egypt Ladies and Juniors Amateur Championship, and Egyptian Men’s Amateur Open. Saudi Arabia will later host the Pan Arab Men’s and Seniors Championship as well as the Saudi Amateur Open in Jeddah, before the season concludes with the UAE Cup and The Tunisia Open , (TBC).

The Jordan Open is organized in partnership between the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and Ayla Golf Club, with the support of the Jordan Olympic Committee and the Jordan Golf Federation, which has extended invitations to several Arab and international federations, including the Arab Golf Federation.

Preparations for the tournament have been ramped up by the organizing committees, with Ayla Golf Club being prepared to meet the highest international standards. Comprehensive hospitality and reception programs are being arranged alongside local and international promotional campaigns in cooperation with various media outlets. Additionally, training and development programs are being organized for the Jordanian national team to enhance their technical and mental readiness ahead of the competition.

The Jordan Open Golf Championship is one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in the Middle East, with a direct impact on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). It also plays a vital role in promoting Jordan—especially Aqaba—as a leading integrated sports and tourism destination.

The championship represents a bridge for sports and cultural exchange between Arab countries and marks a significant step forward in cementing the position of Arab golf on the global map.
