If there is one name that is synonymous with golf courses in Asia, it has got to be that of Brad Burgess.
This hulk of man who came to Asia from Australia many years ago, has been single-handedly responsible for changing the golf turf industry. What Burgess has achieved has not come easy – he has had to prove himself, overcome obstacles and all sorts of challenges including unfair business practices which is a bane of the golf agronomy industry in the region.
“I have personally observed Brad’s journey over the years and what he has done, the passion that he possesses and the quiet commitment to excellence in golf course agronomy has been simply amazing,” said Mike Sebastian, owner and producer of the 2022 Asia Pacific Golf Summit (APGS 2022).
Burgess will be speaking at APGS 2022 on the huge progress that has been recorded in bringing top quality hybrid turf to Asia. Burgess has invested heavily in human resources, machinery and land to establish two world-class International Turfgrass Genetic Assurance Programme certified turf farms in Thailand and Vietnam. This is where the latest hybrids especially belonging to the Zoysia turf family, are grown and supplied to golf courses throughout the region.
Burgess will be speaking on the tremendous advantages of using the new Zoysia hybrids from the perspective of turf quality, aesthetics, advanced maintenance practices and discernable cost savings. “There is simply no one better than Brad to serve as the guide to the seismic changes taking place in the golf turf industry,” Sebastian pointed out.
Burgess will also be conducting a special farm tour for all delegates attending APGS 2022 and this is something not to be missed by all golf course owners, operators and course superintendents. “It will be a hands-on look at the various hybrid types, and we will have qualified agronomists on hand to walk everyone through,” said Burgess.
