Troy, New York – Audubon International – the environmentally focused non-profit organization offering members numerous certifications and conservation initiatives to protect the areas where we all live, work, and play – continues to report solid new enrollee growth in its Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf Certification and Signature Sanctuary Certification tracks, both within the U.S. and internationally.
Five golf courses from the United States and two from Canada recently enrolled in the ACSP for Golf Certification program. The American courses include both Pete Dye-designed layouts at Nemacolin Resort in southwest Pennsylvania, the University of Idaho Golf Course in Moscow, Idaho, Tam O’Shanter Golf & Country Club in Washington state, and LeBaron Hills Country Club in Massachusetts. In addition, Country Club Montreal in Quebec and Burlington Golf & Country Club in Ontario joined the Canadian contingent. These new members will work with Frank LaVardera, Audubon International’s Director of Environmental Programs for Golf, and his team of Environmental Program Managers and Specialists to attain certification and add to the organization’s total of more than 850 certified courses worldwide.
Meanwhile, Utah gets its first Signature Sanctuary Platinum Certification enrollee in Black Desert Resort near St. George. Its new Tom Weiskopf-designed course, which will host PGA Tour and LPGA Tour events in 2024 and 2025 respectively, leads the way in a property-wide commitment to environmental sustainability, literally from the ground up.
“We continue to celebrate our 35th anniversary as a leader in implementing, teaching and championing sustainability practices for outdoor spaces including golf courses and indoor spaces such as hotels, corporate buildings, retail areas and maintenance facilities,” says Christine Kane, CEO of Audubon International. “As we welcome new enrollees to all of our certification programs, we also invite all operators to join us in planning and implementing a more sustainable and cost-effective future for their businesses, and a brighter future for our planet.”
