True Blue GC, Caledonia and Murrells Inlet Featured in August Episode of Traveling Golfer
It never gets old, talking about all of the great golf in Myrtle Beach. That’s why it is known as GolfTown, USA. But certain areas of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand have their own special culture. Murrells Inlet is one.
Couple nationally renowned golf courses like True Blue and Caledonia, with the area’s finest boutique hotel – the Inlet Sports Lodge – and put it all in the Seafood Capital of South Carolina – Murrells Inlet – and the area becomes a must stop. An inside look at this fun and golf hotspot at the southern end of Myrtle Beach’s Grand Strand is the subject of the August episode of The Traveling Golfer.
Murrells Inlet has been well-known to seafood lovers for years. The Mike Strantz-designed golf courses of True Blue and Caledonia have been well-known to the most discerning of golfers for years. But the relatively new Inlet Sports Lodge, situated in the heart of the action in Murrells Inlet, is the connecting point that makes for a different, upscale and entertaining golf vacation.
The Inlet Sports Lodge is a well-appointed, 34-unit hotel that offers so much more than the typical accommodations throughout Myrtle Beach. It is located less than one-half mile down the road from the famous Marsh Walk and its string of restaurants, bars and nightspots that make Murrells Inlet one of the favorite attractions in the region. Also, it is just a few miles up Highway 17 from True Blue and Caledonia – two of the layouts at the top of the incredible list of golf courses in Myrtle Beach.
“We are very fortunate,” explains Bob Seganti, director of golf at True Blue and Caledonia. “We have two great golf layouts, with well-designed golf villas right on the golf courses. But we also are associated with the Inlet Sports Lodge that puts golfers just a short drive from the courses and, when they finish playing golf, they can return to the hotel and be right in the middle of all of the nighttime action. ”
Golf packages for either option can be designed through caledoniagolfvacations.com. “I have been coming to Myrtle Beach for golf ever since 1985,” comments Tony Leodora, host of the Traveling Golfer television show. “There are special attractions to all of the areas up and down this 60-mile-long golf paradise. But the southern end provides a quieter, more relaxed, Low Country feel. I love either option: staying at the golf villas, overlooking the fairways and enjoying the fine restaurants about both True Blue and Caledonia, or living in the upscale surroundings of the Inlet Sports Lodge and taking in the action of Murrells Inlet.”
The August episode runs throughout the month on the Traveling Golfer network of websites … including The Golf Director Network (see full list of sites on travelinggolfervideo.com). It also will air on Monday, August 13 as part of the Press Box television show in Myrtle Beach, 5 to 7 p.m. on HTC Ch. 4. The Traveling Golfer also airs as a scheduled weekly feature show on NBC Sports and NBC Sports + throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. NBC Sports airings are 10:30 a.m. Sundays, 11 p.m. on Tuesdays and 11 a.m. Thursdays. NBC Sports + airs the show at 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays.
As part of every Traveling Golfer show there is the additional feature, “Tech Talk”, hosted by Tour Edge Golf experts, such as President Dave Glod. With years of experience as a club maker, Glod presents an inside look at the research and development of high-quality golf equipment.
Responding to golfers’ never-ending demands to learn more about interesting golf courses and golf resorts across the country and around the world, well-traveled host Tony Leodora created the Traveling Golfer so he could take viewers on video trips to some of the most exciting golf locations. The show repeated for an unprecedented third straight year as the No. 1 Golf Television Show in America in the prestigious International Network of Golf Awards, presented at the PGA Merchandise Show in January.
The Traveling Golfer is a series of monthly shows hosted by Leodora, who has 17 years of experience in televised golf. The featured destination stays on the website for one month, before being replaced by a new show. Alternate shows also air in a two-month rotation. All old shows are archived for continued viewing on the YouTube Network and on the home website, www.travelinggolfervideo.com.
