Golf Weather Impact: August Weather Breaks 3-month Streak of Declines
Knowing that the odds (as well as the year-end forecast) were in our favor for some weather favorability in August, Mother Nature delivered with a +4% Golf Playable Hours (GPH) which buoys the Year-to-Date (YtD) figure slightly to -2%. The YtD regional breadth metric remains negative at a 1:2 ratio comprised of 12 favorable regions vs. 19 unfavorables and 14 in the neutral zone (+/- 2%). National Played Rounds for July as published by Golf Datatech were -1% at the All Facilities level. Once again however, looking at rounds only is deceiving unless you compare that result to the weather unfavorability (-4% reported last month) which actually produces a positive Utilization figure of 62% for the month (+1 pt).
