Treetops Resort Guest Scores Two Holes-in-one In Minutes

Sanjay Kuttemperoor, of Naples, Fla., recently made two aces in a five-hole stretch at Treetops Resort in Treetops Village, Mich. Lloyds of London sets the odds of such an occurrence at 67,000,000 to 1. Based on those odds, a golfer would have to play a round of golf 365 days a year for 183,561 years in order to accomplish the feat.

Deane earned $1 million. Also, the U.S. Pro Golf Tour announces a five-year partnership with entrepreneur Donald Trump. Beginning in 2007, four major championships of the USPGT will carry a total purse of $10.1 million. … Europe posted a record-breaking 19.5-4.5 victory over the United States at the Palmer Cup at Prestwick Golf Club in Prestwick, Scotland. The former record was a 19-5 U.S. win against GB&I in the inaugural Palmer Cup in 1997 at Bay Hill. … Tom Watson, the Kansas City Golf Association and Midwest Section PGA announce the formation of The Watson Cup. The planned annual championship will help determine the best golfer in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The inaugural event will be held June 9-11, 2007 and hosted by Hallbrook Country Club. … The Ladies’ English Open at Chart Hills Golf Club in Kent, England, seeks a title sponsor for the Oct. 6-8 event. … Laurel Springs Golf Club in Suwanee, Ga., will host a One Club World Championship qualifying event on Aug. 30.

May Rounds Down 3%

The National Golf Foundation reports that May rounds were down 3.2 percent nationwide on a same-store basis, breaking a streak of four months during which rounds were in positive territory. Also, rounds are up 4.5 percent for the first five months of 2006 vs. 2005.

Champions Tour Announces New Qualifying System For 2007 Season

The PGA Tour Policy Board on Monday approved passage of a new tournament qualifying system for the Champions Tour that will take effect in 2007 and provide more playing opportunities for former PGA Tour players and other aspiring golfers who are age 50 and above.
