AWESOME GOLF USERS SHOT COUNT HITS 100 MILLION AS THE COMPANY CELEBRATES ITS 5TH ANNIVERSARY

May 29, 2025

When Awesome Golf’s founder started building a simulator solution for his son, he would never have predicted that 5 years and 100 million shots later his software would have been used in 189 countries around the world!  Awesome Golf users have embraced this market leading software, and a dive into their data uncovers some interesting facts from this diverse community.

Billed as a fun alternative to traditional simulator software, surprisingly the most popular modes by shot on Awesome Golf are Virtual Golf, Range Mode and Challenges demonstrating that it’s not just about blowing up boats  – although users do seem to be quite good at that too!  The practice modes and Awesome Insights give users extremely detailed data on their performance as well as access to an in-depth, valuable glossary for newcomers to the game.

Some of our favourite data driven facts from the last 5 years are[1]:

  • The total number of shots is in excess of 100 Million, hit across 189 countries
  • That’s a total distance of 13,587,240,979 yards, which is equivalent to 32 times to the moon and back!
  • But, there have only been 795 Holes in One
  • The Longest Drive was struck in the USA and travelled 465.60 yards
  • The average Driver distance is just 203.16 yards – so don’t always listen to what your mates say
  • Everyone needs to check their gapping, because it might not be as standard as you think – sign into Awesome Insights to see for yourself
  • Despite introducing some of the world’s best real courses to the platform, the hardest hole to play is an Awesome design: Hole 9 on the Desert Canyon course
  • Nearly 236,132 boats have been blown up! So far …
  • And time really isn’t an issue on our courses. 18 holes takes 1h 14 mins on average and 9 holes is coming in at just 37 mins

“The last 5 years have been unbelievable,” comments Awesome Golf Founder Gavin Hamer.  “People all over the world are playing Awesome Golf, which is incredible given that it was originally designed for one person!  I never imagined that would happen.  The data we have extracted from the last 5 years is really interesting and has given us an insight into our community and the way that they interact with the software. It will certainly help us shape the next five years.”

Awesome Golf software is available to download on iOS, Android and PC. To start a 14-day free trial and experience the new championship courses, visit www.awesome-golf.com
