Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. recently hosted separate PLAY for P.I.N.K. tennis and golf events to raise money for breast cancer research. Between the two events, more than $90,000 was raised for the national breast cancer research organization.
PLAY for P.I.N.K. (Prevention, Immediate diagnosis, New technology, Knowledge) supports a nationwide network of volunteers who raise money for breast cancer research through sporting and lifestyle events to speed advances in prevention, detection, treatment and survivorship. PLAY for P.I.N.K. donates 100 percent of its proceeds to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
On Tuesday, February 10, members of the BallenIsles Women’s Golf Association and Women’s National Golf Association participated in a PLAY for P.I.N.K. golf event. With the theme “CRUSH Breast Cancer,” more than 336 ladies participated in the tournament that took place on BallenIsles’ North, South and East courses. Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent auctions, a raffle and a special dessert by Pastry Chef Gloria Baretto followed the golf event. BallenIsles’ members Marjorie Berkley and Michelle Haddad led the golf fundraising event.
On Saturday, February 14, a men’s and ladies tennis PLAY for P.I.N.K. fundraiser included 60 participants and featured a 60-minute tennis clinic with BallenIsles’ tennis professionals followed by 60 minutes of round robin play with fellow members and the BallenIsles racquet sports staff.
“The support, enthusiasm and involvement of the BallenIsles Community was truly amazing. Our committee of volunteers was so dedicated and driven to make this year’s Play for P.I.N.K. the very best and raise as much money for the charity as we possibly could. Kudos to all who participated,” said WNGA Co-Chair Marjorie Berkley.

About BallenIsles Country Club
In 1963 legendary Florida developer John D. MacArthur and the PGA of America teamed up with golf course architects Dick Wilson and Joe Lee to design a championship-caliber golf facility. Over the next ten years, BallenIsles, then called PGA National Golf Club, hosted numerous major tournaments like the PGA Championship and PGA Seniors Championship and was home for the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. The Club was also the host site for the original PGA TOUR Qualifying School and held the inaugural PGA Merchandise Show. When the MacArthur/PGA of America agreement expired in 1973, the Club was renamed the JDM Country Club for John D. MacArthur. For the next 15 years, the prestigious local country club hosted many celebrities and professional golfers and staged many events on the three golf courses on the property. In 1988, the three golf courses and surrounding property were sold by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and renamed BallenIsles Country Club. A multi-year and multimillion dollar plan to develop a private country club community was unveiled. Since the early 2000’s, BallenIsles Country Club has been consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Clubs in America.
BallenIsles features a 115,000 square foot Grand Clubhouse; a world-class 34-court racquets complex with 21 tennis courts (including an exhibition stadium court) and 13 pickleball courts; a brand new four-court bocce complex; and a recently completed $19 million renovation and expansion of the 71,000-square-foot Sports & Lifestyle Complex.
