Fore Play Podcast makes first venture into live golf coverage on Barstool.tv
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida and NEW YORK, New York – In partnership with the Korn Ferry Tour, Barstool Sports will exclusively stream live coverage in the United States of this week’s NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank (July 27-30), the 19th of 26 events on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule.
The four rounds of livestreaming by Barstool Sports will mark the first streaming production of professional golf for the digital media company. Hosts of the No. 1 golf podcast, Barstool Sports’ Fore Play, including Riggs, Frankie Borrelli, Trent Ryan and Dan Rapaport will play significant roles for the broadcast team.
All four rounds of the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank will stream live only on Barstool.tv from 3:30 p.m. ET to 6:30 p.m. ET, and the broadcast team assignments are listed below.
Host: Riggs
Play-by-Play Announcer: Jake Marsh
Analysts: Francis Eillis, Justin Ray (statistician)
On-Course Reporters: Frankie Borrelli, Kirk Minihane, Dan Rapaport, Trent Ryan
Barstool Sports will co-produce the first-of-its-kind streaming event in conjunction with PGA TOUR Entertainment, which will provide production capabilities, including staffing and equipment, while Barstool Sports will lead the creative direction.
“We’re gonna try to make it as compelling, as entertaining as we possibly can,” said Riggs, co-host of Fore Play, in a Q&A for PGATOUR.com. “We’re going to try to highlight the Korn Ferry Tour, the intensity of the moment and what it means to these players. Any time somebody wins… somebody has a big moment, or somebody finds out that they just snuck inside the cut line, it gets emotional, it gets intense, it changes their whole life. We’re gonna try to convey that as best as we possibly can.”
This week will be the fifth playing of the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank, with The Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois (roughly 20 miles northwest of Chicago) hosting for the fourth time.
Reigning PGA TOUR Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler won the inaugural playing of the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank at The Glen Club in 2019, followed by reigning PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year Cameron Young’s dominant five-stroke victory at The Glen Club in 2021. Last year at The Glen Club, Harry Hall birdied five of the final seven holes of regulation and three consecutive playoff holes as he defeated Nick Hardy, a native of nearby Northbrook, Illinois, in a sudden-death playoff. Hall earned his first PGA TOUR card upon the conclusion of the 2022 season, and the TOUR rookie recently finished a career-high T3 at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge.
“While our mission is based in identifying, preparing and transitioning the next generation of PGA TOUR stars, we at the Korn Ferry Tour have made it a priority to engage and grow our fanbase while providing added exposure to our membership and Tour, and this partnership with Fore Play is another significant step toward that goal,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin. “This would not have been possible without the support from our title sponsor, NV5; our presenting sponsor, Old National Bank; our host organization, the Western Golf Association; and our umbrella sponsor, Korn Ferry. We cannot wait for what will be a thrilling week in July at The Glen Club.”
The NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank is the 19th of 26 events on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule. Upon conclusion of the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance (October 5-8), the top 30 players on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List will earn PGA TOUR cards.
Ben Kohles, one of two multi-time winners this season, leads the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. Of the current top 30 players, 14 are under the age of 30, and 17 are seeking their first PGA TOUR card.
