Bluffton, South Carolina – Belfair, a private community in Bluffton, South Carolina, recently welcomed Mitchell Laskowitz as the club’s new general manager. Laskowitz will oversee operations of Belfair’s two 18-hole championship golf courses, its award-winning Sports and Lifestyle Campus, clubhouse operations, food and beverage, and more.
Laskowitz has more than 25 years of experience in hospitality and private club management, reflecting a career that spans numerous roles and regions. He most recently served as general manager and chief operating officer at Seabrook Island Club in Seabrook Island, South Carolina, where he demonstrated an unparalleled capacity to enrich member experiences, implement innovative amenities, deliver outstanding food and beverage services, and cultivate a culture of engagement and satisfaction among members and staff.
Laskowitz’s career journey has taken him across the United States, enriching his understanding of the hospitality industry’s diverse landscape. As the head of national golf operations for American Golf Corporation in Texas, he oversaw the operations of 60 private clubs. In Arizona, as vice president of customer experience for Blue Green Properties, Laskowitz demonstrated his prowess in enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. His strategic vision was also instrumental in Pennsylvania, where he managed the master plan development for Hampton Hall as part of the Toll Brothers Golf and Country Club Division.
“After an extensive four-month search involving several candidates from across the U.S., the Belfair Search Committee and the Board of Directors is proud to welcome Mitchell Laskowitz to our Belfair family,” Belfair POA President Kelly Boss. “We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together, under Mitchell’s leadership, to elevate our club to new heights of excellence and community spirit.”
Laskowitz’s career in the hospitality sector fortuitously began in the Low Country when he served as director of sales and marketing at the former Melrose Club. This early-career role sparked a deep-rooted connection to the area. A native of New York, Laskowitz returns to the region alongside his wife, Kelly, and their two children, Ashley and Aaron.
“Belfair is a very special master-planned community with impeccable amenities,” said Laskowitz. “For years, Belfair has invested in their assets, and it shows with the national recognition received. I look forward to assembling a world-class team that will be focused on innovating the club experience and delivering memories to last a lifetime.”
Belfair features two championship golf courses designed by Tom Fazio that exemplify Lowcountry beauty. The West Course opened in 1996 with Links Magazine proclaiming it “…the finest set of golf holes in the Lowcountry, if not on the East Coast.” The par-72 West Course plays to 7,111 yards from the championship tees. Belfair’s East Course opened in 1999 and is reminiscent of the links courses of Scotland while showcasing the area’s deep-water views, fresh water lakes and lagoons. The par-71 layout measures 6,900 yards from the championship tees. Golfweek Magazine ranks both courses among the “Best Residential Courses” in the United States in their 2022 ranking, as well as perennial recipients of Golf Digest’s “Best Courses in South Carolina list.”
Belfair is managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon. For more information on Belfair, visit www.belfair1811.com or call (843) 757-0701.
