JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Bent Creek Golf Course – the Bobby Weed-designed 18-hole layout located in southwest Jacksonville – proudly announces a major renovation to their putting greens has been completed and opened to rave reviews on Friday, Sept. 3.
The overhaul included restoring the 31-year-old greens to their original size, update drainage system and improve conditions, speeds, and esthetics to create one of the best premier public golf courses in Jacksonville.
In addition, Bent Creek made improvements to their practice facility, including new putting surfaces, chipping area and range targets. The clubhouse also benefited from a facelift in receiving new paint, carpeting and fixtures to welcome golfers before, during, and after their round.
“Bent Creek has been a longstanding community fixture that has flown under the radar for too long,” says Chris Cygan, regional manager of Indigo Golf Partners. “The new putting greens will certainly allow Jacksonville’s best kept secret to be reborn.”
Since 1989, the 6,620-yard, par-71 parkland layout has provided a fun and challenging golf experience for residents of northeast Florida and visitors alike. Golfers have continued to come back to Bent Creek not only to play but work with the friendly professional staff and experience the unrivaled value.
Crafted by renowned architect Bobby Weed with consulting services by Mark McCumber, Bent Creek’s meandering terrain takes players through towering pines alongside creeks and swales. The championship course boasts Bermuda grass greens, plush fairways and a state-of-the-art lighted practice facility which is home to the Bent Creek Golf Academy.
Bent Creek also enjoys longstanding designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” by Audubon International. For 15 years, it has maintained sound practices in six key areas: environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction, water conservation and water quality management.
“We are thrilled to help revive Bent Creek in a sustainable way,” says Dan Zimmer, vice president of operations for Indigo Golf Partners. “By providing consistent greens, a high level of service and exciting programs for all golfers, our local community will be proud of what we provide to everyone who visits.”
