BUENAVENTURA GOLF CLUB AND ABU DHABI GOLF CLUB WIN BEST-IN-COUNTRY WORLD GOLF AWARDS
Two Troon-managed golf facilities recently received top honors at the World Golf Awards in Murcia, Spain, as Buenaventura Golf Club was named “Panama’s Best Golf Course” and Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates was named the “Middle East’s Best Golf Course.” The World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class courses and golf destinations.
In addition to Buenaventura and Abu Dhabi receiving top honors in their respective categories, four Troon-managed facilities were nominated for World Golf Awards, including: Santa Maria Golf & Country Club in Panama; Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club and Rio Mar Country Club in Puerto Rico; and Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Course in the Bahamas. The Sandals Emerald Bay Resort received a 2018 World Golf Award for “The Bahama’s Best Golf Hotel.”
“To be named the top golf course in an entire country is a tremendous accolade,” said Bruce Glasco, Troon’s Chief Operating Officer. “Congratulations to our Troon associates at Buenaventura and Abu Dhabi golf clubs, as well as at all of the clubs nominated for these international awards. Their hard work, dedication and passion for their profession and the game of golf are to be applauded.”
Located in Coclé, Panama, Buenaventura Golf Club features an 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course, practice facility and clubhouse, along with the luxurious The Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort. Equipped with world-class amenities, the destination features beachfront townhouses, lakefront villas and condominiums within a charming beach community. The par 72, championship course, which is open to member and resort guest play, utilizes the surrounding natural landscape to create a unique golf experience.
Abu Dhabi Golf Club offers one of the most luxurious golf resort experiences within the Middle East. The 27-hole facility is an oasis of tranquility carved out of the desert set on more than 162 hectares of land. The course features undulating terrain, meandering through pockets of palms, ornamental trees and shrubs with seven spectacular saltwater lakes. The National Championship Course plays to a par of 72 and measures 7,440-yards from the tips. The 3,299-yard, par-36 Garden Course is a nine-hole layout that is more forgiving and an enjoyable experience for all players, especially those new to the game.
