Fitzpatrick wins DP World Tour Championship one week after signing with Bettinardi; Kuchar set records with QBE Shootout victory for the third time in his career.
Tinley Park, Il.: Bettinardi Golf professional tour staff had an incredibly successful weekend, earning two wins on the European Tour and PGA Tour.
Six-time European Tour champion Matthew Fitzpatrick secured a win at the DP World Tour Championship this weekend, less than one week after signing with Bettinardi Golf, leader in precision-milled putters and inventor of one-piece technology.
The 26-year-old Englishman came out on top after having 4 total rounds in the 60’s at the DP World Tour Championship. Trusting his DASS (Double Aged Stainless Steel) BB1 Flow Tour Dept., which he designed directly with Robert and Sam Bettinardi, Fitzpatrick ranked first in strokes gained putting with 22 birdies to finish -15 under par for the event.
His victory over the weekend brought his Official World Golf Ranking to No.16, and placed him second overall on the European Tour’s season long Race to Dubai points list. Additionally, his putting success has put him fourth overall in Putts per GIR on the European Tour.
“Watching Matt this weekend was very full circle for Bettinardi Golf,” Founder Robert Bettinardi said. “He has worked so hard with our team to make his perfect putter that requires absolute precision and feel when Matt is on the greens. This weekend showed our promise to Matt and the world that Bettinardi Golf has the technology, experience and attention to detail to secure a championship on the biggest stage in golf.”
Fitzpatrick signed with Bettinardi golf on Wednesday, having worked directly with Robert and Sam Bettinardi over the last few years to perfect his putter to his specific requests. His putter features a prototype Roll Control Face, Bettinardi’s latest face milling technology, which Fitzpatrick saw through rigorous testing before it was released to the general public in 2021.
“To have Matt win the week we officially signed him is more than luck,” Vice President Sam Bettinardi said. “Winning such a big tournament with a Bettinardi in his hands bolsters his confidence to the highest level. It is so rewarding, especially for the experienced engineers and Tour Dept. staff that have helped him along the way to see their hard work come to fruition.”
Fitzpatrick will continue his season in the new year, as this tournament was the last of 2020 for the European and PGA Tours. However, his and Bettinardi’s work will not stop, as the champion will continue to work alongside the Bettinardi team to keep his putter dialed-in headed into the 2021 golf season.
Additionally, Matt Kuchar earned his third QBE Shootout title this weekend, breaking several records for the tournament.
Gaming his Tour Dept. KM-1 Armlock putter, which he designed directly with Robert Bettinardi, the 42-year-old and his partner Harris English finished -37 under par, breaking their own record of -34 when they won in 2013.
“Time and time again, Matt impresses us with his performance on the greens” Vice President Sam Bettinardi said. “Matt’s history with Bettinardi and his success on Tour is an undeniable correlation. Thirty-seven under par is all the proof you need.”
