CRESWELL, OR — Richard Bland won the 2024 U.S. Senior Open, his second-straight senior major championship, using a L.A.B. Golf Directed Force 2.1 putter.
Bad weather forced a Monday finish at Newport Country Club (RI), and Bland closed with a final-round 66 that included a clutch 6-foot putt on the finishing hole to earn him a spot in a two-man playoff at 13-under par. Battling the difficult conditions, Bland sealed the deal on the fourth playoff hole with a tap-in par.
It was Bland’s second start in a senior major championship, his first being the 2024 Senior PGA Championship in late May that he won using L.A.B. Golf’s MEZZ.1 MAX putter.
“What a performance!” said L.A.B. Golf CEO Sam Hahn. “We’re all so happy for Blandy and so proud of him. This is a special moment for us, too, as it’s the first big win with our big Directed Force 2.1 putter.”
DIRECTED FORCE 2.1
Directed Force 2.1 is L.A.B. Golf’s original putter design that has been continuously refined over the last six years to deliver improved looks, feel, and sound.
DF 2.1 is the most forgiving putter in the L.A.B. Golf putter lineup. The combination of its large size and Lie Angle Balance technology creates a putting experience that feels as though the putter is “gliding on rails” during the stroke.
Lie Angle Balance, or L.A.B. for short, is L.A.B. Golf’s patented technology that allows its putters to remain perfectly square to the arc of the putting stroke without any need for manipulation from the golfer.
With L.A.B. Golf putters, golfers can trust the putter face to return to square at impact, removing the variable of face angle from the putting stroke so line and speed can be the primary focus.
TPT x L.A.B. GOLF SHAFT
Bland also relied on a L.A.B. Golf x TPT putter shaft, which was developed in partnership with L.A.B. Golf and Swiss golf shaft manufacturer TPT Golf. The shafts utilize TPT’s patented automated manufacturing process that continuously wind a single strip of carbon fiber in such a way that there are no overlaps or seams in its shafts.
TPT’s carbon fiber is applied so that every fiber angle is “on-axis,” which means every fiber is working together in harmony. It’s essentially a one-piece construction, and because of this it provides feedback that is uniquely quiet, clean, and ultra clear.
