G2 Academy student Olivia Deakins, captured her first win of the year at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour’s Bluffton Junior Open last weekend at Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, South Carolina. Deakins won with rounds of 72 and 80 for a total of 152, 8 over par.
After several years of ski training, Deakins shifted her focus from the slopes to the greens – joining the G2 Academy in Fall of 2020. Within the span of five months Deakins lowered her scoring average from upper 80s to high 70s, reinforcing junior female athletes can be successful across multiple sports.
G2 Director of Golf Dan Jackson, when asked about Olivia and her recent success stated “Olivia has worked hard on her game. She is great to work with, her openness to learn and develop has helped her to improve significantly during her time at G2.”
Olivia’s next event is the AJGA Junior Girls Championship, September 4th-7th at The Furman Golf Club in Greenville, S.C.
About The G2 Academy: The G2 Academy is the only junior golf boarding academy exclusively for young women. Founded by Ray Travaglione in 2018, G2 provides a competitive, distraction-free environment where it’s all about the girls. Mr. Travaglione stated, “G2’s mission is to empower girls to own their future and prepare them for the rigors of collegiate and professional golf.” G2 offers full-time boarding, summer camp, custom training, and team/group programs.
Applications for the full-time boarding program are still accepted for Spring 2021. G2 International students will be able to stay on campus all year long, allowing them to stay at G2 from the time of arrival in August through the school year to minimize the risk imposed by international travel.
