Scottsdale, Ariz. – BoardRoom magazine has named Troon ‘Management Company of the Year’ for 2023 in the publication’s 24th annual ‘Excellence in Achievement’ awards – the 10th consecutive year Troon has received this distinction. In addition, for the second consecutive year, BoardRoom also recognized Troon Companies Cliff Drysdale Tennis as the ‘Tennis Management Company of the Year’ and RealFood Hospitality, Strategy & Design as the ‘Food Service Strategic Planning Company of the Year.’
The BoardRoom magazine ‘Excellence in Achievement’ awards are the private club industry’s only awards recognizing the clubs’ business partners. BoardRoom magazine’s industry peers review and select outstanding suppliers and consultants, which represent various aspects of course and club operations. Winners, each year, are selected for overall excellence in their respective fields, achievements, innovation, vision for future growth and continued impact on private club operations.
“Being recognized as the top in any business is impressive, but doing so for 10 consecutive years is a testament to the ongoing commitment to excellence by our Troon associates,” said Troon President and CEO Tim Schantz. “Thank you to BoardRoom magazine and our industry peers for these honors and congratulations to our Troon team members around the world.”
2023 was a year of growth and new adventures for Troon. The leader in golf and club hospitality continued to grow organically while at the same time expanding its service offerings and increasing management capabilities through multiple acquisitions. In July, Troon acquired Invited’s Management Services business with 18 managed and consulting-services agreements moving to Troon’s world-class managed club portfolio. Days after the Invited announcement, Troon finalized the acquisition of Applied Golf Management, a New Jersey-based golf and hospitality management company, with 13 public and private golf facilities in New York, New Jersey and Florida now Troon managed. The Applied Golf and Invited transactions not only expand Troon’s footprint in key markets, but also brings the additional talent and resources of those companies under the Troon umbrella, enabling Troon to help existing clients excel in the competitive world of golf and club operations.
Venturing outside of traditional club operations, Troon opened two new golf entertainment venues this year in partnership with Golfzon, the world leader in golf simulator market share. The first Golfzon Social location opened in February in West Nyack, New York, with a second location debuting in Scarsdale, New York in August. In November, RealFood opened Putts & Pins, a bar and restaurant featuring gamified mini golf, duckpin bowling and arcade games, in West Des Moines, Iowa. RealFood developed the venue’s restaurant concept, food and beverage programming, and provides ongoing operational management. 2023 also marked the debut of Troon Events, the luxury travel experiences and tournaments division of Troon.
Troon Privé® continued its upward trajectory in 2023 as the private club operating division now manages nearly 150 private facilities across the U.S. Now with 850-plus locations in 45-plus states and 35-plus countries, Troon is the world’s largest golf and golf-related hospitality management company.
Earlier this month, Troon announced the acquisition of Eventive Sports, a sports marketing and event management company, furthering Troon’s diverse footprint and top level experiences offerings.
