ATLANTA – Bobby Jones Links, an Atlanta-based club management and advisory services company, is pleased to announce it has been selected to manage John A. White Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia. This partnership marks the company’s first club management addition of 2023 and its eighth property in Georgia.
“We are delighted for the opportunity to help improve this historic public course,” said Whitney Crouse, CEO of Bobby Jones Links. “Our initial focus will be on finishing the capital improvements that began in 2022, developing a robust marketing plan, and providing the staff with Bobby Jones Links’ multitude of management tools, systems and resources, Jones University training, and procurement savings.”
The new and improved John A. White Golf Course reopened to great fanfare Friday, Aug. 19, 2022, after the first phase of improvements, including new greens and bunkers and the construction of a new maintenance building sponsored by the City of Atlanta and Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority (AFCRA). “We’re incredibly proud of our improvements at this important and historic golf course, with more enhancements to come,” said Kerry Stewart, Executive Director of AFCRA.
“We are thrilled to be working with Bobby Jones Links to help us continue the improvements at John A. White,” said Stewart. “Over the past three years, the City of Atlanta and the AFCRA have partnered to invest more than $1.8 million in the golf course and driving range. Another $800,000 in capital improvements is slated for 2023, including repairs to the cart paths, additional tree pruning, enhanced landscaping and signage, a driving range net extension, and drainage and irrigation work. The long-term goal is to continue making investments, enhance the customer experience, improve its management, and make a big difference for our community, customers and for kids in First Tee-Metro Atlanta’s youth development program.”
John A. White is a regulation 9-hole, par-35 course that is fun, fair and challenging. Originally built in 1929, it was first renovated in 1999 by Billy Fuller and Bob Cupp. Conveniently located approximately seven miles from the heart of downtown Atlanta, it is home to First Tee-Metro Atlanta, whose program for youth ages seven to seventeen seamlessly integrates the game of golf with a life skills curriculum to create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do.
