Raleigh, NC – Raleigh-based golf player development program, Operation 36, announces the launch of their new book, written by co-founders Ryan Dailey, PGA and Matt Reagan, PGA. The book titled, “How to Create a Junior Golfer” shares the story of how the company was founded and is designed to help educate parents of a Junior Golfer.
Many Golf Professionals understand the challenge of introducing a Junior Golfer to the game and keeping them engaged in the sport for years to come. This was the experience for Operation 36 Golf co-founders Ryan Dailey and Matt Reagan. They had a thriving Junior golf program until one December when they discovered 40 families would not be returning to their golf program in the spring.
Instead of continuing to teach Junior Golf in the traditional way, they had to figure out why the traditional method was flawed and how they could fix it. They were determined to answer the question– ”What is the best way to introduce a beginner to golf?”
The book shares the behind-the-scenes look at each one of the pillars of the Operation 36 program and why it is relevant for a beginner Junior Golfer.
This includes:
- How to learn golf backwards, starting 25 yards from the hole.
- How to track and measure the progress of the Junior Golfer.
- Getting the Junior on the course early and often in nine-hole events.
- The Junior Development Model, which provides age-appropriate instruction for the golfer based on their goals.
- How to give coaches the tools to provide a curriculum that takes a Junior from a beginner to a par golfer.
- How parents of Junior Golfers can guide their children to success.
Ryan Dailey, Co-Founder said, “As golf professionals with over 35 years of combined coaching experience, and having the support of over 1400 golf professionals who are currently running Operation 36 programs around the world, Matt and I felt the time was right for us to share what we’ve learned in ‘How to Create a Junior Golfer.”
Dailey continued, “This is a short form book, 125 pages that you can read in a few hours and is our way of arming you with the knowledge and understanding of what to look for in selecting the best beginner golf program and environment for your child to develop a lifelong love for playing the game of golf.”

About Operation 36
Operation 36 is a Division of Golf Genius and is the most effective developmental program to teach beginners how to play golf. All new players begin on the course, and instead of starting at the tee box, they play from 25 yards away from the hole. Once the player shoots par (36) from 25 yards, they back up to 50 yards, and so on, until they are shooting even par (36) from the full tee box. Participants engage in weekly classes taught by golf professionals and all progress of the golfers is tracked in the Operation 36 Platform. The Operation 36 mission is to create 1 million new golfers over the next five years, and they want to help coaches with introducing new golfers and retaining them for the long term.
