POPULAR PGA TOUR PLAYER BREAKS FOUR-YEAR VICTORY DROUGHT IN REPLACEABLE CLEATS
One of the most popular players on the PGA TOUR ended a four-and-a-half year skid with a one-shot victory at the Mayakoba Classic wearing shoes featuring replaceable cleat technology. His last victory was at the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head in April 2014.
“We are thrilled that this week’s PGA TOUR winner chose to wear cleated footwear to capture his first win in a few years,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “Players on tour – just like everyday golfers – do have a choice in the footwear they wear and the types of outsoles on those shoes. It’s gratifying to continually see that those who wear cleats are seeing positive results.”
At the Maykoba Classic, 28 out of the top 29 finishers chose to wear replaceable cleats over spikeless/tennis shoes. This was also the case with the winners of the Blue Bay LPGA event and the European Tour’s Nedbank Classic.
PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP® and Softspikes® brands. CHAMP’s Helix, Zarma Tour and Stinger cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix, Pulsar, Silver Tornado and Stealth cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales.
