Bubba Burger Signs On as Title Sponsor of JU Women’s Golf Team Home Tournament
– Bubba Burger Jacksonville Classic Slated for October 1-2 in Ponte Vedra –
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University Athletics, in conjunction with the women’s golf team, are pleased to announce the partnership with BUBBA burger as the title sponsor of October’s Jacksonville Classic at Marsh Landing Golf and Country Club for the next two years.
As part of its title sponsorship, BUBBA burger will host the Player Luncheon during the practice round on Sunday, Sept. 30. They will also provide tee gifts for each player and be able to speak at the opening night player dinner.
“We welcome BUBBA burger to the JU golf family and the JU Athletics community with open arms,” said Head Coach Jennifer Borocz. “They are showing support for a group of student-athletes that represent what JU, golf and teamwork is all about. This team won twice last year and finished among the top GPAs of all college golf teams in the country.”
The deal involves renaming the event the BUBBA burger Jacksonville Classic, and the brand will be featured on signage and promotional materials for the fall tournament. BUBBA burger also becomes the official burger of JU women’s golf.
BUBBA burger has made a commitment to sports, especially women’s sports, over the last few years and are committed to furthering success of its partners in competition and in life.
“We are very active supporting women’s sports, and women’s golf is of particular importance to our brand,” said Andy Stenson, VP of Marketing for BUBBA burger. “As we expand our footprint nationally, we also want to make sure we are supporting local events and teams.
“The success that the JU women’s golf program has had on and off the course and in the community aligns perfectly with our brand. To have more than 100 Division I athletes exposed sampling our product at the tournament is a great activation opportunity. This tournament also puts our name in front of the entire NCAA golf community with a positive message about women’s sports.”
The relationship between JU women’s golf and BUBBA burger was orchestrated by MediaShare Consulting Group, a Jacksonville-based brand marketing strategy company that specializes in sports sponsorships and activation. MediaShare worked with the JU women’s golf program to elevate its brand and identity in the community as well as identify sponsorship funding. In April, MSCG architected JU women’s golf booster club, the StrongHer GolfHER Alliance, which not only helps raise funds, but develops relationships between student-athletes and local business leaders for mentoring, internships and perhaps career opportunities. The Alliance helped fund the team’s new van by raising more than $70,000 at its launch event.
BUBBA burger was created by Walter “Bubba” Eaves who had a mission and a dream to create a perfect and juicy burger. Eaves invented a unique production method that allows for the BUBBA burger to be cooked from a frozen state and still remain juicy and flavorful. He also decided that he would use only the highest quality meat in his burger. He refused to use any fillers or trimmings in his burger and, to ensure the highest possible quality, decided to use only whole muscle meat chucks in the BUBBA burger. Since he was so proud of his creation he named his burger the BUBBA burger and with these high standards the BUBBA burger was born.
Today, BUBBA burgers can be found in grocers nationally, throughout Canada and through the U.S. Military Commissary system. It is the number one branded frozen burger in the United States with over 15 different varieties.
