Top Golf Business Conference Set To Open
The 2018 Asia Pacific Golf Summit, the longest running summit on the business of golf in the Asia Pacific will open on November 2, 2018 in the capital city of Bangkok.
The event, recognised as one of the world’s leading summits on the business of golf will be staged at the brand-new Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit from November 1 – 3.
The staging of APGS 2018 will be the fourth to be held in Thailand in the Summit’s twelve year history with the previous held in Bangkok in 2010, Pattaya in 2011 and Hua Hin in 2016.
APGS 2018 will have more than 200 delegates coming from more than 10 countries. Commenting on the selection of Bangkok as the host city, Mike Sebastian, CEO of the Asia Pacific Golf Group, the owner and producer of APGS 2018 said, “It makes a lot of good business sense to stage the prestigious APGS in Bangkok – it is universally recognised as the hub of Asian golf and this combined with the fact that Thailand is a country that everyone wants to visit, we just can’t lose!”
The special guest of honour at APGS 2018 will be the global golf legend and entrepreneur Greg Norman who spent 331 weeks as the world’s Number 1 Official World Golf Rankings ranked golfer in the 1980s and 1990s. He has won 91 international tournaments, including 20 PGA Tour tournaments and two majors: The Open Championships in 1986 and 1993.
While in Bangkok, Norman will be inducted into the prestigious Asia Pacific Golf Hall of Fame.
One of the major highlights of APGS 2018 will be the 19th staging of the Asian Golf Awards, widely regarded as the “Oscars” for the Asian golf industry.
There will be more than 45 award categories, the most number of awards for the golf industry anywhere in the world.
Meanwhile, the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, the host venue for APGS 2018 was officially blessed in a poignant religious ceremony today in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a very solemn 2-hour long ceremony led by a large contingent of Buddhist monks, the brand new hotel was blessed and officially open.
APGS 2018 is the hotel’s first customer.
Commenting on today’s official blessing of the hotel, Sebastian said, “It is indeed an honour for us to be the first commercial customer for the hotel and we look forward to another successful staging of our annual Summit.”
