The exclusive field is limited to 16 teams, each consisting of one PGA Professional and three amateurs. This one-of-a-kind golf pilgrimage features a practice round at Brora Golf Club – home of the James Braid Golfing Society – one tournament round at scenic Castle Stuart Golf Links overlooking the Moray Firth and two tournament rounds at Royal Dornoch.
The exceptional event also includes four nights’ accommodation, welcome reception and entertainment, three meals daily, premium gift packs presented by tournament partner Donald Ross Sportswear, airport transfers, local transportation, and concierge service both pre-trip as well as during the event. Additionally, a $20,000 prize will be divided among the winning PGA Professionals.
“This joyous event allows amateurs and PGA Professionals to come together and enjoy some of the finest links golf in Scotland while celebrating the life and heritage of Donald Ross,” says Marty Carr, executive chairman of Carr Golf. “We look forward to welcoming lovers of the ancient game to historic Dornoch for an unforgettable week.”
The journey to the “Home of Golf” celebrates the genius and memory of one of golf’s greatest contributors. Born in the town of Dornoch in 1872, Ross immigrated to America in 1899 and became known as the “Father of U.S. Golf Course Architecture.” His world-class designs include Pinehurst No. 2, Aronimink Golf Club, East Lake Golf Club, Seminole Golf Club, Oak Hill Country Club, Inverness Club and Oakland Hills Country Club. Over 100 U.S. national championships have been played on his courses.
The inaugural Donald Ross Tournament was hosted at Royal Dornoch, with a practice round at Brora Golf Club, on Oct. 8 – 12, 2017. Highlights included an audience with noted golf course architecture writer Bradley Klein, winner of the Donald Ross Award. Said Klein of the experience, “Go, it’s a must-attend event.”
