Carr Golf Announces Winners of World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament
Eleventh Annual Event Held on Ireland’s Celebrated Waterville Golf Links
Carr Golf – Ireland, England and Scotland’s premier provider of unforgettable golf experiences announces Tim and Brittany Baxter were the winning team in the 11th-annual World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament held July 23 – 26 on acclaimed Waterville Golf Links in County Kerry.
Carr Golf hosted 34 teams hailing from the U.S., Canada, Bermuda and Ireland at Waterville, widely known as one of the world’s finest seaside courses. The event included three rounds of golf, deluxe nightly accommodations, welcome reception, full Irish breakfasts each morning, nightly entertainment, tournament photo and gifts, shuttle transportation throughout and prize ceremony complemented by a gala dinner.
Playing out of New Jersey’s Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, the Baxter duo won the 36-hole net event with a total of 99 points in the “Better Ball Stableford” format. “It was a pleasure playing with Brittany this week,” says Baxter. “We’re proud of our come-from-behind victory, of course, but the best part was the chance to play on a team together.”
Hugh and Lydia Barit from Mid Ocean Club (Bermuda) also tallied over 90 points to finish second in the net division. They took home the title of “Best Dressed” and Ms. Barit also won the social media competition tallying 448 likes for her three posts during the event.
With a two-day total of 156, Bill and Olivia McCloy of Maketewah County Club (Ohio) won the gross division by three shots over Jeffrey and Emily Cohen from New York’s Westchester Country Club. “Golf was just one of many highlights of a truly unforgettable trip,” says Mr. McCloy. “Thank you to Carr Golf for hosting such a wonderful event.”
The competition in the “Adopted Division” was fierce as Dylan Edwards and Laura Rubino edged out Jay and Paige Downton by a single point. Edwards also won the “Longest Drive” contest in the Father category. Ms. Cohen – runner up in the gross division – won the Daughter category of the “Longest Drive” competition.
Gerry Griesser, playing out of Pennsylvania’s Applebrook Golf Club, knocked the ball to six feet to win the “Nearest to the Pin” competition. Annie Layden – who finished third last year in the net division – took home the “Nearest to the Pin” title for the daughters.
“Our mission is to introduce more young women to the game of golf so fathers and daughters have the opportunity to spend quality time playing this wonderful game together,” says tournament co-founder James Layden.
“Seeing fathers and daughters team up on one of the world’s finest courses is truly special,” says Carr Golf’s Marty Carr, tournament host. “Lifelong friendships are formed as a result of the tournament and participants are already looking forward to next year.”
