CASA VERDE GOLF BUNKER RENOVATION SET FOR PGA TOUR TEST
Enhancements at TPC Summerlin to be highlighted during Shriners Hospitals for Children Open
LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The recently-renovated bunkers at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, a construction project completed by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Casa Verde Golf, will be showcased during the PGA TOUR’s annual Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Festivities are open to the public and scheduled for Monday, October 29th, through Sunday, November 4th, with the tournament taking place the last four days of the week.
“It was an honor to be selected to partner with the PGA TOUR as they set out improve TPC Summerlin for tournament play,” said Jeff Schwinkendorf, Vice President of Casa Verde Golf. “The majority of the bunkers had not been touched since the original construction over 25 years ago, so this was a much-anticipated project amongst membership and PGA Tour professionals alike, many of whom have homes in the area and play the course regularly.”
Construction began in December of 2017, with all bunkers receiving edge realignment, improved contouring of bunker floors, drainage, liner and new white sand. Completed in May of 2018, many of the bunker complexes were also significantly modified and reshaped, in an effort to better integrate the hazard and its impact to today’s tournament-level game and strategy. These changes will be made evident as the viewing public looks on as the world’s best play the renovated course for the first time in November.
“The vastly improved bunker positioning and edgework, coupled with the new white sand, will create a stark improvement over the previous look and feel of the property,” said Schwinkendorf.
