Entities unite to bring together college coaches, junior golfers, and parents.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – The Tarheel Junior Golf Tour (TJGT) recently solidified a partnership with College Golf Experience (CGX), an organization that is exclusively endorsed by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The partnership will provide TJGT members and parents access to college coaches through camps and education events detailing collegiate golf and the recruiting process.
“The Tarheel Junior Golf Tour is very specific to only work with organizations that truly help young players and parents advance to fulfill their dreams in college golf. CGX is one of these organizations. Camps are designed to showcase the talents of young players in front of coaches, educate on college golf and the path to get there. The coach to player ratio at CGX camps allows for interactions that are meaningful and worth the money families invest. We are thrilled to be involved with CGX,” said Tar Heel Junior Golf Tour Founder Jeff Daner.
TJGT and CGX will co-develop Preview Camps run in conjunction with TJGT events, along with TJGT building awareness to its members and their families about CGX camps, content, and camp progression to ‘find your fit and find your spot’ in college golf. CGX will support TJGT, their players and families no matter where the junior golfer is in their journey.
CGX has developed five different types of camps: Elite Camps hosted by a single college/university run by men’s and/or women’ coaches, Preview Camps on the front end of a junior golf tournament at the same site as the tournament, and Geographical Showcase Camps focusing on coaches from all Divisions in a specific geographic region, that includes a recruiting seminar lead by college coaches,
In addition, CGX has developed Top100 Camps geared toward the highly ranked player who wants to meet, engage, and learn from the top ranked programs and coaches. Ivy Golf Institute / DIII Elite Camps geared toward juniors who excel academically and athletically, and are looking for an academic-focused college golf experience.
CGX camps are for young men and women ages 12-18. The camp agenda encompasses (depending on the camp type): 20-30 percent education seminars for both parents and players where college coaches discuss all-things college golf and the pathway to get there. 50-60 percent on-course engagement with college coaches via simulated college golf practice and tournament rounds where players learn course management and strategy and receive real-time feedback. Then, 10-20 percent of the camp is a simulated college golf practice that covers skill development and challenges with college coaches based on the way they coach their teams. Parents are invited to participate and engage every step of the way at the camps.
“Amateur golfing greatness in the Carolina’s has a legacy dating back to the 1890s, also includes Arnold Palmer’s legendary years at Wake Forest and continues today with great players rising from all ranks. Partnering with the TJGT is a privilege that definitely energizes the CGX team,” said CGX CEO Joshua Jacobs. “We look forward to creating events that help serve as the connective tissue between college coaches with TJGT players and parents, while providing education to break down the college golf education barrier and help juniors achieve their goals.”

Its members include top ranked players from the “Tar Heel State” as well as top players from over 20 states. Players compete for individual tournament championships as well as for the season long Money and Scoring Leader competitions.
The Money Leader competition is modeled after the PGA Tour Money List, all tournaments are assigned a purse ranging from 5-10 million dollars in value, players earn “dollars” based on PGA Tour purse distribution formulas and the leading “money winner” receives a special award at the end of the season. The Scoring Leader is modeled after the PGA Tour’s Vardon Trophy, which recognizes the player with the lowest scoring average in tournament competition.
