Brentwood, Tenn., – Softspikes® once again came out on top in Texas this past weekend, as the winner of the Charles Schwab Challenge claimed a maiden solo PGA Tour win wearing a combination of Tour Flex Pro & ProStinger spikes in his FootJoy Premiere Series golf shoes.
Shooting rounds of 66, 64, 66 & 70, his 14-under-par 72-hole score was enough to secure a commanding 5-shot victory over his closest competitor. The champion becomes the 22nd winner to do so wearing spikes in the last 24 PGA Tour events.
It was also another dominant performance for the Softspikes brand at Colonial Country Club, with 32 of the top 36 finishers selecting to wear spikes over spikeless shoes. In total, 81% of the field at the Charles Schwab Challenge were equipped with spikes and 46% were gaming the No.1 spike on Tour, Tour Flex Pro.
“The wins keep on coming and this clearly demonstrates that players putting Softspikes in play have a clear performance advantage over those opting to compete in spikeless shoes.” commented Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes.
Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
