PLAYERS WEARING CLEATED FOOTWEAR ON A ROLL GOING INTO FEDEX CUP PLAYOFFS

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., – Players wearing cleated footwear just keep on winning on the professional tours around the world. Once again, the winner of the PGA TOUR event, the Wyndham Championship, utilized replaceable cleat technology wearing Softspikes® Cyclone cleats on his Footjoy® Icon Black golf shoes. And, in another major victory, the winner of the AIG British Open Championship was wearing Nike® React Vapor 2 shoes featuring Softspikes Tornado cleats.

“With 24 of the top 28 finishers, including the winner, wearing cleats at the Wyndham, it’s clear the premium that top players are putting an emphasis on stability and balance heading into the FedEx Cup playoffs,” said John Hohman, senior vice president of marketing for PrideSports. “Also, with the victor wearing cleats at the women’s major, we went three for three in the British Open events.”

Cleats were also on the shoes of the winner of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Ellie Mae Classic who was wearing Footjoy Tour-S shoes with Softspikes Pivix cleats. The weekend was capped off with Mackenzie Tour’s 1932byBateman Open winner choosing to wear footwear featuring replaceable cleat technology over spikeless/tennis shows. He wore Footjoy Icon shoes with Champ® Stinger cleats.

Replacement Softspikes® and Champ® cleats can be purchased in the golf section of most large retailers, sporting goods stores, golf specialty and golf course pro shops across the country. Cleats can also be purchased online from any of these locations, your favorite online store or directly from www.golfspikes.com.

PrideSports is the undisputed leader in the golf cleat segment with its CHAMP and Softspikes brands. The company recommends golfers change their cleats every six to eight months – or even more frequently based on use – to ensure golfers get the maximum performance out of their footwear.

CHAMP’s Helix®, Zarma Tour® and Stinger® cleats, as well as Softspikes’ Pivix®, Pulsar®, Silver Tornado® and Stealth® cleats, dominate the OEM and secondary market in terms of performance and sales. More information can be found at www.champspikes.comand www.softspikes.com.
