Shelby, NC private club earns third place in Golf Inc.’s Golden Fork award private club renovation category
SHELBY, NC. –
Cleveland County’s only private golf club, Cleveland Country Club, is excited to share that the club has received a third-place award in Golf Inc.’s 2021 Amenities Competition under the private club renovation category. The Golden Fork award was given to Cleveland Country Club following their $550,000 dining room and clubhouse renovation, meant to elevate the member experience to new heights.
The dining room renovations were completed in September of 2020. The club now offers casual upscale dining, furnished with modern decor, which guests can enjoy while overlooking the sweeping greens of the golf course. The dining room’s layout was revitalized to incorporate a large outdoor courtyard equipped with fire pits and comfortable chairs seated around tables suited for two or more guests. The inside dining area was renovated to feature a large winding bar for both drinking and dining, as well as subtle lighting and café-style seating to help elevate the member experience in the new casual but refined setting. Additionally, Cleveland Country Club also debuted refreshed lunch and dinner menus crafted by the newly appointed executive chef, Zach Anderson. The new menus feature locally sourced proteins and produce, fresh seasonal ingredients and house-made sauces and dry rubs.

Golf Inc. recognized 19 honorees across the country this year in their Amenity of the Year competition, 11 of those being in the Golden Fork categories. The Golden Fork categories recognize the best new and most improved dining facilities at a golf course or private club. Entries were judged on the impact of the new amenities on the club’s finances, membership and operational efficiency. Cleveland Country Club was recognized not only for their recent renovations but also for their 98% retention rate and 14% increase in membership growth.
