SAVANNAH, GA – Officials of the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club announced today that the tournament will host the fifth annual Fairways Fore Change event on Monday, March 31, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Palmetto Clubhouse at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club.
This special event is designed to support inclusivity and diversity in golf by addressing the barriers that exist to making the sport accessible to everyone.
“Fairways Fore Change has become a cornerstone event in our efforts to grow the game of golf since its inception in 2021,” said Brit Donahue, Tournament Director. “We are thrilled to announce Renee Powell, a trailblazer in the sport, as the 2025 keynote speaker. Her extraordinary contributions to golf will empower attendees as we continue to grow the game in Savannah and beyond.”
A native of East Canton, Ohio, Renee Powell is professional golfer, public speaker and advocate for diversity in golf. Born on July 16, 1946, Powell made history as the second African American woman to compete on the LPGA Tour. As a tour player, she competed in more than 250 professional tournaments and won the 1973 Kelly Springfield Open in Brisbane, Australia. Following her time on the LPGA Tour, Powell dedicated her life to diversifying the game of golf in addition to spending time as a television broadcast commentator, providing golf instruction and becoming the head professional of Clearview Golf Club, the club her father founded in her hometown of East Canton. In 1999, Powell was honored by the LPGA with the Budget Service Award for her contributions to junior golf, and in 2017 she was inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame alongside her father, Bill, making them the only father- daughter duo in the Hall of Fame.
The event will be moderated by Lynthia Ross, the Global Communications Leader for Club Car, the world’s leading manufacturer of quality gas and electric golf, utility and personal transportation vehicles.
