Pleasant Hill, Calif. – Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill, Calif., recently welcomed Ryan Ott as the club’s new general manager and chief operating officer. Ott will oversee all elements of the private club’s operation, including food and beverage, agronomy, sales and marketing, programming and events.
An inspiring leader with 20-plus years of hospitality industry experience, Ott has served in multiple general manager roles at Troon-managed facilities across the country. He most recently served as general manager of Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn., where he led 100-plus associates at the member-owned club. Prior to Fox Den, Ott was the general manager of Tennessee National Golf Club, also in Knoxville. He began his career in golf club operations in 2000 at Alondra Golf Course in Gardena, Calif.
“The Board and Troon are thrilled to have Ryan steering the effort going forward,” said Contra Costa Country Club Board President Chip Doyle. “His passion for quality, team building, training, and putting the culture of the team and members first, align with the club’s long-term objectives to create a special place where our Members, their guests and our associates can be the best version of themselves.”
Ott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and has been a Class A Member of the PGA of America since 2005. Originally from Orange County, Calif., Ott has two adult children who attend the University of Tennessee.
Offering one of the finest and purest tests of golf in Northern California, Contra Costa Country Club provides a unique environment that is both family-friendly and socially enriching. The club has golfers of all skill levels with beginning players able to quickly learn and improve, while also challenging some of the Bay Area’s better players. The club’s 18-hole golf course was redesigned by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. in 2014-15, creating a modern experience while still fully respecting the 1925 original intent of architect A. Vernon Macan. Meandering through 145 acres of oak, eucalyptus and redwood, the course is framed by dramatic mountain and valley views. Remaining as a long-standing initiative, Contra Costa continues to utilize reclaimed water when irrigating the golf course.
Contra Costa offers a variety of programs available for men, women, seniors, and junior golfers alike. Membership at the club truly offers a priceless investment for a lifetime of enjoyment for members and their entire families. The cornerstone of Contra Costa is the spacious clubhouse; offering spectacular views from atop an oak-shaded knoll with a beautiful pool, pool house and recreation area located nearby.
