Cordillera Ranch Tabs Daren Johnson as its New Director of Golf
Cordillera Ranch – the Hill Country’s premier luxury and golf community – introduces Daren Johnson as its new Director of Golf.
Johnson comes to Cordillera Ranch from Adena Golf and Country Club in Florida, where he was the Director of Golf at the high-end private club. Previously, Johnson was the Director of Golf at Carrolwood Country Club in Florida and the Head Golf Professional at Mountaintop Golf and Lake Club in North Carolina. At Mountaintop, Johnson helped establish the golf operations from the onset, and was instrumental in the layout being recognized by Golfweek as the “Best New Golf Course” in 2008.
A graduate of Stetson University and a four-year member of the men’s golf team, Johnson started his golf professional career at the Walt Disney World Resort. He also served as an assistant golf professional for two years at the famed Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey, and became the head golf professional at Old Memorial Golf Club in Tampa.
“Daren is an incredible addition to our team, and he is going to fit well with our membership and continue to enhance and grow the golf operation,” says Charlie Hill, President and Chief Operating Officer for DH Investments, developer of Cordillera Ranch. “Daren has earned a reputation as a complete golf professional who works tirelessly to enrich the member experience. He also is well-liked by his peers in the industry and highly thought of by the members at the clubs he has served.”
Johnson replaces Marc DeWall, who was promoted to General Manager at Cordillera Ranch in July. Earlier this year, Jeff Eldridge became the club’s new Director of Agronomy.
Set on pristine land in the Texas Hill Country, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course meanders through valleys and oak-covered terrain. Many holes offer views of the Guadalupe River Valley and feature strategic bunkering, craggy limestone canyons and thought-provoking risk-reward shots. The Dallas Morning News ranked the Cordillera Ranch golf course the fourth-best in its Texas Golf 2018 ranking of the state’s best layouts, and listed the par-3 16th hole among the state’s “Best” and “Most Beautiful” golf holes.
Situated 30 minutes northwest of San Antonio, Cordillera Ranch boasts 0.25-acre villas, one- to 10-plus acre estates, including valley-view, golf course and Guadalupe River frontage, as well as hilltop home sites. Cordillera Ranch’s seven on-site, resort-style amenity clubs – Golf, Tennis and Swim, Spa and Athletic, Social, Rod and Gun, Equestrian and River – are all available under one membership. This trailblazing model continues to attract a wide array of buyers from throughout Texas and the United States.
The Cordillera Ranch clubhouse was recently named the Most Beautiful Clubhouse in Texas by Architectural Digest. Community honors continue to roll in as well, as Where to Retire Magazine named Cordillera Ranch one of the “50 Best Master-Planned Communities in the U.S.,” and San Antonio Magazine tabbed it one of the best neighborhoods in the area.
Cordillera Ranch continues to grow at an impressive pace. Since Cordillera Ranch’s launch in 1997, nearly 800 homes have been completed (with more than 1,200 lot sales). At final build-out, Cordillera Ranch will total approximately 2,500 homes and preserve 80% of the land in its natural Hill Country state.
New amenities slated to open this year include the Vista Visitor’s Center, housing the offices of Cordillera Ranch Realty, DH Investment Company, Pasadera Builders and the Cordillera Ranch POA administration. The Springs Sports Park opens late 2018. The new ball fields and courts greatly expand the number of recreational areas available throughout the community to Cordillera Ranch’s newest neighborhood.
Additionally, the community is constructing the Lodges at Cordillera Ranch, boutique onsite accommodations for property owners and club members’ guests. The first phase of Lodges will include two units with a total of 10 available rooms and are scheduled for completion by Q2 2019.
