Inaugural Tennis Open Added to 2022 Event Line-up; Proceeds Support Patient Services and Healthcare Heroes at RWJBarnabas Health’s Clara Maass Medical Center
Belleville, N.J. –Former New York Giant and two-time Super Bowl Champion David Diehl, a first-year assistant football coach at the University of Memphis, will return to New Jersey to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the 7th annual Clara Maass Medical Center Golf Invitational & Inaugural Tennis Open, on Monday, October 17, at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ. Robert V. Gamba, CEO of Prismatic Development Corporation, will serve as Chairman of the event. Mr. Gamba is Chairman of the Clara Maass Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees.
The charitable event, which returns to Montclair Golf Club with a new line-up of activities, kicks-off at 8:00 a.m. with a breakfast for the Inaugural Tennis Open participants, before competing on the six tennis courts located at the Montclair Golf Club Racquet Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The Tennis Open will be followed by lunch for the tennis players. Golf participants may arrive at 10:00 am to check in and enjoy brunch before a shotgun-start at 12:30 p.m. The event will conclude with an awards dinner and special sports panel at 6:00 p.m., as Diehl will be joined by popular sports reporter Mike Garafolo (NFL Network) and former NY Giants teammate Shaun O’Hara to discuss the start of the NFL season, the Giants, Super Bowl stories and David’s transition to the college coaching ranks, among other topics.
A line-up of celebrities, current NFL players and several of Diehl’s former NY Giants teammates are scheduled to participate this year, as proceeds from the event will support patient services and healthcare heroes at Clara Maass Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility located in Belleville, NJ.

Diehl, in his 1st year as an Offensive Quality Control Coach for the University of Memphis, has been an advocate of Clara Maass Medical Center since his playing days. Additionally, he has been a longtime ambassador for RWJBarnabas Health and The Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes, where he speaks regularly to young athletes, parents and coaches on topics such as leadership, sportsmanship, concussion education and cardiac screenings.

Diehl, who spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the New York Giants, won two Super Bowl Championships (2008 and 2012) and was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2009. In 2012, Diehl was also the recipient of the prestigious Wellington Mara NFL Man of the Year Award.
